Bob Balk: 25-26 President

Bob grew up in Rochester, NY. He attended SUNY at Buffalo for undergraduate work and University of Rochester Simon School for his MBA with a focus on Finance, Operations and International Business.

His first job professionally began with The Boeing Company working in Business Development for the Information, Space and Defense Systems business based at the Boeing Space Center in Kent, WA. He was relocated to Seal Beach, CA and transitioned into Phantom Works, the advanced technology division of the company, working as Manager of Global Venture Capital Investments. Bob has continued to be involved in entrepreneurship and venture capital investing. He is currently working with Pier 70 Ventures where he is Managing Partner. Pier 70 Ventures first fund, the INpact Fund, is focused on investing in impact-driven healthcare innovation.

Bob’s lifelong avocation has been in sport. He is a six-time Paralympian and Paralympic medalist, competing in four winter games (cross country skiing) (1994,1998,2002,2006) and two summer games (athletics) (1996,2000). He is the current national champion in Para Bobsled.

Bob has also been very active in various volunteer sports administrative roles with the US Olympic Committee, International Paralympic Committee and International Olympic Committee, primarily advocating on behalf of athletes in the movement. In 2013, he was awarded the Paralympic Order, the highest honor in the Paralympic movement, for his contributions and service to athletes. He currently serves on the executive committee for the United States Olympians and Paralympians Association.

Bob joined the Moravia Rotary Club in October of 2012. Since joining he has been President, Executive Secretary and several times Foundation Chairperson. He is a member of the Paul Harris Society of the Rotary International Foundation and is proud of the Moravia Club becoming a 100% PHF club.

Bob is the proud father of three children: Robert, Jack, and Bebe.
