Each year, World Polio Day brings Rotary members, public health advocates, and communities around the world together to recognize the tremendous progress made toward ending polio and renew our commitment to finishing the job.

Rotary has been at the forefront of the global effort to eradicate polio for decades. Today, we are closer than ever, but continued support for immunizations, disease surveillance, advocacy, and awareness remains critical.

CNY Rotary End Polio Now Coordinator Randy Wilson is encouraging clubs throughout our district to plan an activity during the final 10 days of October, connecting their efforts with World Polio Day on October 24.

There are many ways to get involved. Clubs can host an End Polio Now event or fundraiser, raise awareness in their communities and on social media, or make a contribution to Rotary’s PolioPlus Fund. Donations to the fund are matched 2-to-1 by the Gates Foundation, tripling the impact of each gift.

If polio is eradicated worldwide, it will become only the second human disease in history, after smallpox, to be eradicated.

This October, let’s use our time, our resources, and our voices to help End Polio Now.
