The Syracuse Inner City Rotary Club recently hosted the 2025 Al Turner Dairy Farm Trip, giving 30 children from the YWCA and Dunbar Center a day filled with learning, adventure, and fun. Held in August, the annual trip offered participants a hands-on opportunity to explore agriculture, connect with animals, and discover where their food comes from.
The day’s activities were made possible by the generosity of several community partners. McMahon Ez Acres Farm in Homer welcomed the children for an unforgettable dairy farm experience, while Route 80 Stables introduced them to the joy of riding ponies and farm life. The outing concluded with a sweet stop at Bailey’s Ice Cream Parlor in Nedrow.
Sponsors also played a key role in the event’s success. Support from Wegmans, the Onondaga County Agricultural Council, and CNY Central News helped make the trip possible. The children especially enjoyed interacting with the CNY Central news team during interviews, adding an extra highlight to their day.
Through this program, the Syracuse Inner City Rotary Club provided local youth with an enriching experience that combined education, community, and joy. The trip exemplified Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self” and honored the spirit of giving that continues to inspire the club’s work in Central New York.
