Soon after teacher and long time soccer coach at Trumansburg Central School District (TCSD), Chris Bond died in 2007, Trumansburg Rotary funded and organized a community effort to construct shelters on the soccer playing field to honor the man.
After 17 years the shelters were still structurally sound but looking tired so Trumansburg Rotary led another effort to give them a facelift.
Mary and Jim Proctor at P&S Gravel donated a ton of crushed stone, Lane Vorheis and staff at TCSD transported the gravel to the shelters, soccer coaches Jason Hodge and Anthony Ouchama brought soccer team members to provide “the many hands make for light work." Richard Tousley, Lowe’s Store Manager, donated paint/stain/brushes/etc for the facelift, and several community members and Rotarians added their labor.
All told about two dozen people helped make short work of it, they are pictured clustered around the Rotary sign. Everyone had FUN!
