This spring, Sauquoit Rotary celebrated its 70th birthday with a multi-club fundraiser for Shelterbox. The event raised about $375 via a basket raffle and 50/50 and their club contributed funds to make it an even $500.  They welcomed guests from New Hartford Rotary, North Utica/Whitestown Rotary, and Greater Utica Sunrise Rotary.

Sauquoit Rotary was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Utica in 1955. Although they are a small club in a small town, they have sponsored two District Governors over the years, and currently have a member training to be the Area Rep for Areas 2&3. Also, the club has been active in hosting and promoting Rotary Youth Exchange students since the program’s inception.

In other news, the club stays busy recognizing local students, as well. Sauquoit Rotary celebrated their April and May Juniors of the month in June. The students are selected by their teachers, honoring not only their classroom achievement, but also how they demonstrate the qualities from the Rotary Four Way Test.

Sauquoit Rotary also recently honored two graduating seniors with the Francis A Combar Memorial Graduation Award. This award recognizes two college-bound seniors with an interest in engineering or science who have the spirit of volunteerism exemplified for Rotarian Francis A Combar.
