The Southern Rensselaer County Rotary Club is spearheading two April events to support critical local needs—food assistance and emergency shelter—through music, bowling, and community generosity. The Malta Rotary Club is also lending support to one of the events.

Bowling for the Anchor Food Bank — Sunday, April 6

In partnership with Maple Hill Junior/Senior High School, the Southern Rensselaer County Rotary Club will host its annual Bowling Fundraiser on Sunday, April 6, from 1–3 p.m. at the East Greenbush Bowling Center (570 Columbia Turnpike). Proceeds from $50 lane sponsorships will benefit the Anchor Food Bank of Castleton-on-Hudson. Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations of food and household essentials to be delivered to the Food Bank.

Bowling costs $20 per individual (includes shoes), or $89.99 for groups of up to five, which includes two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, and soda.

Live Music to Benefit St. Paul’s Center — Saturday, April 26

Later in the month, the Southern Rensselaer County and Malta Rotary Clubs will host a benefit concert for St. Paul’s Center, a Rensselaer-based organization providing emergency shelter to mothers and children experiencing homelessness.

The concert will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 7–8:30 p.m. at the East Greenbush Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (1 Gilligan Road, East Greenbush).

Musical entertainment will be provided by Enjoyous, a five-piece band known for their original songs and creative covers, mixing Rock and R&B with a positive message. The band features Andy Purrott (guitar, backing vocals), Brian Farrell (drums, vocals), David MacLeod (vocals), Debbie Reep MacLeod (flute, vocals), and Michael Strich (electric bass). More at www.enjoyous.net.

A $15 suggested donation will be collected at the door. For details, contact Phil Kellerman, President-Elect of the Southern Rensselaer Rotary Club, at philkellerman77@gmail.com or 352-262-5421.

Both events offer opportunities for the community to come together in support of local families—whether by lacing up bowling shoes or tapping along to a live beat.
