Three Central New York authors shared their writing journeys with Rotarian conferees during the Rotary Book Club breakout session.
(Left to right) Marilyn Higgins' book Dreams of Freedom tells of an Irish woman searching for her siblings along the Erie Canal. Ann Callaghan Allen's book Holocaust Refugee in Oswego, describes the welcome that Oswegonians gave to the only Jewish refugees the U.S. rescued during WWII. Michele Jones Galvin's book Beyond the Underground traces her family lineage all the way back to Harriet Tubman. Book clubbers followed up Michele's book with a field trip to Tubman's home in Auburn, and Ann's book with a visit to the refugee museum in Oswego.
The Club envisions an Erie Canal-themed field trip for this summer. More details will be announced soon. Join the CNY Rotary Book Club by emailing RotaryBookClubCNY@gmail.com and get busy reading our current offerings for 2026 (see poster below).
