In a time marked by rising division and polarization, CNY Rotary is proud to host a special event that offers a proactive, community-driven response: “Positive Peace in a Polarized World”, a district-wide webinar scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET. All Rotary members and clubs throughout the region are warmly invited to attend this engaging, solution-oriented session.

Meet the Presenter: S. Martin
S. Martin brings a wealth of global peacebuilding experience to the conversation. As the Global Partners Manager of Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI) and a 2016 Rotary Peace Fellow, Martin has helped shape the Positive Peace Conversations model. He also serves as a Positive Peace Activator with the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) and is an active member of the E-Club of World Peace.

Martin’s presentation will illuminate three powerful themes:
  • Empowering Action: How individuals can say “I can do something!” and actively help mitigate polarization in their communities.
  • Member Engagement: How Rotary service engagement boosts retention and attracts new members.
  • Leadership & Connection: How cultivating leadership and strengthening networks can fortify the Rotary community.

What are Positive Peace Conversations?
Originating in 2017 through the collaboration between MBBI and Rotary International, the Peace Conversations Facilitation (PCF) model has helped thousands of Rotary members engage with their communities on complex issues—right within the structure of a weekly club meeting. Rooted in reflective structured dialogue, the model was developed during Martin’s Peace Fellowship at Chulalongkorn University and piloted in Southern California’s District 5280.

Today, facilitators trained in this model have hosted conversations across the globe—from North America to Southern Africa—on topics aligned with the 8 Pillars of Positive Peace (as defined by IEP).
