The Rotary Global Grant Adopt a Fruit Tree/Tully Rotary Ecological Environmental Sustainability (TREES) project, led by the Rotary Club of Tully, is working to plant 8,257 avocado trees in Bungoma County, Kenya.
The initiative aims to reduce carbon dioxide, restore deforested lands, and support the Kenyan government’s climate change efforts.
In addition to environmental benefits, the project will provide food and income through avocado farming. It also supports 30 Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs), where students will be trained in sustainable farming techniques and advanced environmental practices.
This project is already underway, with progress captured in photos shared by Gordon Howard, the primary contact for the project. The TREES initiative promises lasting benefits for both the environment and local communities.
