CNY Rotary is thrilled to welcome new leadership to our Executive Committee. We introduce you to our 2028-29 CNY Rotary President Joe Dhara of DeWitt Rotary. Read on to learn more about Joe and wish him well as he sets out on this life-changing leadership journey.
Joe Dhara (pronounced duh-har-uh) is currently the President of DeWitt Rotary, where he has been a member for seven years. He has held several leadership positions in the club, from Greeter to Board Member. He enjoys hands on service, volunteering to serve meals at the Samaritan Center, help with registration at blood drives, hawking newspapers to raise money as an Old Newsboy at the holidays, and cleaning up the Butternut Creek trail - all traditions in his club that he has embraced.

Joe is passionate about family and makes Rotary a family affair. His two sons have accompanied him to Rotary over the years. His oldest son has now become a member and when the younger one turns 18 he is interested in joining too. Joe's wife Robin is a supportive Rotary partner.

Professionally, Joe has held positions in teaching and administration, from Math teacher to Superintendent. For hobbies, Joe enjoys playing chess, cricket, darts and soccer. He even used to be into arm wrestling. He loves spicy food and grilling, scifi and action movies, reading science and tech articles, and dreams of traveling to space. Some more earthly trips on his wishlist are to visit ancient sites or go on a safari. Growing up in India, he was surrounded by tigers and leopards and has an affinity for the big cats. His family's current favorite travel spot is Charleston, South Carolina, where the weather and the ocean are so wonderful.

Joe is already jumping right in, attending leadership meetings and going to lunch with the current President line. He is taking a break this holiday season for family, traveling to India to celebrate his parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

You can reach Joe at ajdhara@gmail.com to welcome and congratulate him, or better yet, lend your support.

The CNY Executive Committee would like to thank the members of our Nominating Committee, led by PDG Evan Kurtz, for their time and care in this important decision. Our nominating committee is made up of three Past District Governors, three current Area Reps, and three Past Club Presidents. In the future, we encourage members to answer the call for serving on this committee to be part of vital work that supports a vibrant future for Rotary across our region.
