Last April, CNY Rotarians learned about the extraordinary work of the Global Eye Project during their District Conference. The presentation was delivered by Niskayuna Rotarian Dr. Anshu Chandra, who serves as Director of the Global Eye Project, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring sight and preventing blindness in underserved communities around the world.

Anshu’s remarks highlighted the Global Eye Project’s mission to deliver critical eye care in rural Haiti, where access to vision services is often limited or nonexistent. Since 2010, the organization’s all-volunteer medical teams have restored and protected the vision of thousands of children and adults through comprehensive eye exams, prescription glasses, sight-saving surgeries, and hands-on training for local Haitian professionals. By building local capacity, the Global Eye Project ensures sustainable eye care long after each visit. Her message resonated deeply with Rotarians, reflecting Rotary’s commitment to global service, compassion, and measurable impact.

That inspiration continues through Love at First Sight, a fundraising event benefiting the Global Eye Project, scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the HCC Auditorium, 450 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY. The event will begin at 3 p.m. with music, dance, and a presentation highlighting the Global Eye Project’s mission and impact, followed by a 5:30 p.m. social hour and dinner. Community members, supporters, and advocates will gather for an afternoon and evening rooted in purpose, connection, and celebration.

The Global Eye Project’s work is distinguished by its strong commitment to transparency and impact. As a 100 percent volunteer-run organization with no U.S. salaries or overhead, every dollar raised through this event will go directly toward patient care, blindness prevention, and training local providers in Haiti.
