On Saturday, May 3 from 9-11 a.m. Glens Falls Rotary held its annual Kids' Fishing Derby and Casting Contest. This free event took place at Crandall Park Pond for kids ages three to 15. They only have to bring their own fishing pole and bait... the Club provides the fish! They work with the City of Glens Falls to bring this event to their area and they had their best turnout yet this year with 117 kids ages 3-15!
Student volunteers from the Glens Falls Interact Club were a tremendous help from registering kids, to helping with judging fish, running the casting contest, passing out prizes, and handing out free children's books provided by the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund.
They were also joined by Mayor Bill Collins, CNY Rotary President Lizzy Martin (who only caught some seaweed, leaving plenty of fish for the kids), and incoming CNY Rotary President Bob Balk.

Six-year-old Raymon (pictured at the top of the page) who caught the heaviest fish of the day at 2.5 pounds.
Next, 13 year old Colton who was the only kid to get a bullseye for the Casting Contest - pictured practicing with his 9 yo sister Charlotte.

Eight-year-old Aubrey Clark caught the longest fish for her age category, pictured here with her dad George.
