The CNY Rotary Nominating Committee have completed their important duties and the Executive Committee is pleased to announce the newest member of their team, Samantha Netzband.
Sam is a member of the Vernon Verona Sherrill (VVS) Community Rotary Club. She has been a member since 2020 and is the current President. Sam joined Rotary after receiving an invitation from her former English Teacher (Donna Schonewetter) and Superintendent (Martha Group). Both thought she would be a good fit for the Rotary Club after her election to the VVS Board of Education.
Sam is currently serving as Area 1 Area Representative and District Conference Chair. She is looking forward to serving as President Nominee Designate for the rest of the Rotary Year. One of her proudest Rotary accomplishments is helping her club found the VVS Area Imagination Library that provides one free book a month to children birth to five in the VVS community.
Outside of Rotary Sam works as a Contracts Manager at BAE Systems. She is in charge of all things learning and development and was recently assigned as the co-lead for all contracts learning across the company. She is a graduate of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) Contracts Management Leadership Development (CMLDP) Program, and recently received the NCMA Advancing Professional Award. She currently serves as Vice President of the NCMA CNY Leatherstocking Chapter, and is Community Service/Book Club Chair of the CMLDP Alumni Group.
Beyond her career Sam is an avid writer, reader, knitter, and traveler. Sam is the owner/founder of two businesses: (1) Wanderlust Writing, a travel planning business, and (2) Knitting by Netzband, a craft business that specializes in knit items. She is also the author of four books which she is working to publish at some point in the future.
Sam recently completed a milestone accomplishment of visiting all 50 States before her 30th Birthday. Now she plans to move onto visiting many different countries.
Most importantly Sam is the proud fur mom of one dog, Elliot, and five cats Oscar, Bethany, Bob, Cleo, and Paulette (yes Paulette is named after Paul Harris).
