It is time once again where Albany Rotary recognizes some of the region's amazing youth, and you are invited to join them. CLICK HERE for tickets.

Albany Rotary partners with seven local childcare agencies to identify foster-care youth for the purpose of affirming their self-worth and bringing the great work of the staff to the community’s attention. In addition, a message is communicated to youth and families that the stigma that is often attached to foster care is being extinguished.

Agencies include: Community Maternity Services, Equinox, LaSalle School, Northern Rivers, St. Anne Institute, St Catherine’s Center for Children and Vanderheyden Hall.  This program is a true community partnership that would not be possible without our many partners including: Governor Kathy Hochul, Congressman Paul Tonko, Senator Pat Fahy, Albany City Mayor, Albany County District Attorney, Albany County Executive, Albany Chief City Auditor and Broadview. In addition to a special luncheon where students are honored with their chosen friends and family and local dignitaries. Each student receives multiple proclamations, a $150 gift card and a brand new bicycle.

William Brian Barr spent his career working with disadvantaged youth. When he joined Albany Rotary, he brought the idea of empowering youth to the club and the Youth Recognition Awards were established in 1984. To recognize the 40th anniversary of the program and Brian’s commitment, Albany Rotary Club officially recognized that the program shall be henceforth recognized as: Brian Barr Youth Recognition Awards. This year is the 41st Annual Brian Barr Youth Recognition Awards luncheon.
