The Rotary Club of Ithaca has opened applications for its 2026–27 International Service Peacebuilding Grants, inviting local organizations, Rotary members, and partner clubs across District 7180 to propose international projects that strengthen communities and advance peace. These annual grants—ranging from $2,000 to $5,000—support small‑scale, high‑impact initiatives outside the United States that address community‑identified needs and align with Rotary’s global Areas of Focus. The Tully Rotary Club, in partnership with local community groups and environmental experts, recently completed the planting of a pioneering microforest behind the Tully Town Hall on Meetinghouse Road. Our District Peace Subcommittee (yes, it is part of the Foundation Committee) has partnered with Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI). MBBI started as an official service partner for Rotary International and brings technical field expertise to Rotary’s commitment to peace and conflict resolution. Rotary Peace Fellows are among those involved in this organization and it is another opportunity for local and international service from anywhere in the world.
As we reach the halfway point for the 2025-26 Rotary year, we want to check in on our progress with regards to membership growth and celebrate clubs that are growing so far.
Overall, we are +2% through November, which means we are up 43 new members.

On a crisp Saturday night, warmth and friendship emanated from Common Roots Brewing Company's Albany Outpost as Rotarians current and future came together from across CNY to celebrate the formation of a unique companion club. The Albany Mosaic Club is the companion to a legacy club, Albany Rotary, designed to help Rotary grow and thrive in our state capital by creating a purposefully inclusive space to be filled with members who may not currently see Rotary as accessible or relevant to them. The club's name, Mosaic, eliciting the image of all the colors, shapes and textures of a tile mosaic coming together to create something beautiful.

The 2025 Night of Lights, sponsored by Hamilton Rotary on December 5, truly did shine brighter this year. Many individuals and organizations lent their time, talents and gifts to make the day a success.

Members of the Chestertown Rotary Club and American Legion Post 964 joined Chester Supervisor John Maday and his family as they gazed out at Route 9 in front of the Chester Municipal Center at 5:00 o’clock on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and watched with some concern as the street lamps illuminated the still-falling snow. They had prepared an evening celebration for the lighting of the community Christmas Tree on the lawn of the Municipal Center, but with the storm continuing, would anyone actually brave the weather to attend? However, the hardy inhabitants of Chester did not disappoint.

Health for Haiti began in 2014 as a global service-learning course where college students traveled to Haiti to promote sustainable, holistic community development. A critical aspect of the experience was learning that although we are separated by distance, culture, and circumstance, we are all just people doing the best we can with what we have. After the COVID pandemic and Haiti’s sad descent into violence and chaos, the course ended—but the work continued.
