More than 60 CNY Rotarians and friends of Rotary gathered at the DoubleTree Binghamton on November 17 to celebrate an achievement many thought not possible.
The Foundation Legacy Brunch recognized those who, since the start of the Rotary year on July 1, have made a new contribution of $10,000 or more, or made a new bequest of at least $10,000 to the Endowment Fund of The Rotary Foundation. Most of these bequests are earmarked for SHARE, which means that investment earnings from these gifts will be coming back to CNY Rotary each year forever!!
Following a challenge to all CNY Rotarians from President Lizzy to Think Big, a group of four PDGs – Don Reese, Jim High, Randy Wilson, and Dana Jerrard, hatched a plan to raise a million dollars. With help from many, including Foundation Major Gifts Officer Tyler Stokesbary back in Evanston, the Legacy Campaign was launched on September 30. Thanks to the generosity of those listed below, six weeks and six days later a total raised of $1,028,994 was announced.
Even though our ambitious initial goal has been reached, the Legacy Campaign will continue through the conference in Albany in early April. We hope that all CNY Rotarians will consider leaving a personal legacy of service in CNY through a bequest to the Rotary Foundation.
