At Gift of Life of Central New York, we believe donors deserve to see exactly how their generosity is used — and the lives it touches.

In March 2025, because of your support, CNY Gift of Life contributed $20,000 to help send the Gift of Life International Volunteer Traveling Team to Bucharest, Romania, bringing life-saving pediatric cardiac care to children who otherwise would have gone without.

This is what impact looks like.

From Central New York to Romania: Lives Changed in One Week

During three powerful days at Grigore Alexandrescu Emergency Children’s Hospital, children received critical cardiac care, families found hope, and local medical teams strengthened their ability to care for children long after the mission ended.

  • Children were evaluated, treated, and placed on paths toward healing
  • Volunteer surgeons and specialists worked side-by-side with Romanian teams
  • Knowledge was shared, building long-term sustainability
  • Families experienced compassion at one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives
This is how Gift of Life works: immediate care + lasting impact.

This is how Your Funds Are Used

CNY Gift of Life funding supports:

  • Travel and logistics for volunteer medical teams
  • Program and hospital coordination
  • Surgical and catheterization missions
  • Training that allows countries to become self-sustaining

In Romania, your dollars directly supported care delivery, education, and long-term capacity building — ensuring the impact extends far beyond a single visit.

Rotary clubs across our region contributed $8,400, expanding the reach even further.

This is donor stewardship in action.

While we are proud of the lives changed in Romania, there is another child whose story is unfolding right now — and she needs us just as urgently.

Now, We Need Your Help for Bayarchimeg

In late January, Bayarchimeg, a two-year-old girl from rural Mongolia, will arrive in Albany for the surgery that can save her life.

She was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a life-threatening heart defect. Her oxygen levels are dangerously low. Her family lives more than 1,500 km from specialized medical care.

Thanks to Samaritan’s Purse Children’s Heart Project, transportation is being coordinated. And thanks to our incredible volunteer surgeons and medical staff, the medical expertise is donated.

But there is one critical piece still missing.

We Must Raise $20,000 for Her Surgery at Albany Med

Although doctors donate their time, CNY Gift of Life must still pay Albany Medical Center for the surgery itself.

    The cost: $20,000
The timeline: Before the end of January
    The outcome: A child’s life

This is exactly the kind of moment your past giving prepared us for — and why your continued support matters so deeply.

Make a contribution to this effort

Thank you for trusting CNY Gift of Life with your generosity — and for standing with us as we work to save one more life.
